The safety of vaccines was not widely questioned until the 1990s. A study published by Dr. Andrew Wakefield brought widespread attention to a possible link between the MMR vaccine and autism. While this study has been debunked as fraudulent, and the doctor discredited, concerns about vaccine safety, and the number of parents rejecting vaccines for their children, have never been higher.
